King Hussein Business Park Signs Agreement to Establish Miyawaki Forest and Greywater Reuse System
King Hussein Business Park (KHBP) signed a cooperation agreement to establish a Japanese Miyawaki forest and greywater reuse system, together with the Climate Action Association in Jordan (CAN) as implementing partner and with the support of and in partnership with the Mitsubishi Corporation Foundation for EMEA CIO as donor partner.
The project aims to expand green cover within KHBP and promote sustainable water management through greywater reuse, while raising environmental awareness and bolstering afforestation and responsible resource-use practices.
Adopting the Japanese Miyawaki methodology for creating urban forests using native plant species, the project will comprise hundreds of native saplings – including selected rare and endangered species – contributing to enhanced biodiversity, improved air quality and increased green space. The project also encompasses the installation of a greywater reuse system to provide a sustainable irrigation source for the forest, alongside training and awareness programmes targeting KHBP staff and community members.
This project forms part of KHBP’s ongoing efforts to advance environmental sustainability practices and develop a business environment that prioritises resource efficiency and quality of life – backing national efforts in the areas of natural resource management and climate action.
